Tired of working from your desk at the office or at home? Consider the following locations for a work session in Dallas.

The Flying Saucer in Addison isn’t exactly a quiet place to come work in the evening hours, but if you get here before things get too rowdy, it’s a great place to grab a drink and get some work done. This casual restaurant has a full bar and opens daily at 11am. They have a great selection of beers on taop, and there’s a $3 pint special every day. Not that you’ll drink a whole pint yourself while trying to get work done but… After you’ve finished up with work you’ll find yourself in a fun environment, where you can kick back, relax and enjoy your evening. 14999 Montfort Dr, Dallas, TX 75254, (972) 991-7093 http://www.beerknurd.com

If everything in the above description of The Flying Saucer sounds good to you, but you’re craving wings, then check out Pluckers Wing Bar in Upper Greenville. As the night progresses this joint gets louder and louder, so make sure you come early if you seriously want to get a good laptop session in. Full bar, free Wifi – what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, fried pickles to start the evening off right. 5500 Greenville Ave Ste 406, Dallas, TX 75206, (214) 363-9464, http://www.pluckers.net/

If loud, about to be a bar, atmospheres don’t appeal to you for your work session, try The Capital Grille. This classy restaurant in Uptown is a quieter place to sit down and do some work. Open for lunch 11:30am to 2:30 pm, and opening again for dinner at 5pm, it is a solid choice for either meal. It has an old-school, upscale country club feel to it, from the décor, to the food, to the service. Eating here will cost you a pretty penny, but the food is delicious, and the quiet environment is perfect for getting some work done – just make sure you come well dressed. 500 Crescent Ct Ste 135, Dallas, TX 75201, (214) 303-0500, http://www.thecapitalgrille.com

Want to take things up another notch? Consider planning your laptop session at Abacus. Only open for dinner, from 6pm onward, this is one fancy restaurant with a full bar, classy ambience and a top notch chef. You pay for the fun, upscale food – the menu is quite expensive. However, if you are coming in for appetizers and drinks while you work, it is a great place to go and feel like the king of the world while pounding away on your laptop. If you need a confidence boost and you’ve got the extra money to spend, consider hitting up Abacus. Of course, if you’re in a relationship you may want to put the work on hold and take that special someone out for a nice dinner at Abacus. 4511 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75205, (214) 559-3111, http://www.kentrathbun.com/abacus/dallas/

Back in the realm of realistic, here are a few more drink and work spots in Dallas:

  • Bar Belmont – This place has an excellent view of downtown Dallas, best enjoyed when the weather is nice. You can sit out on the terrace, order a drink and get some real work done outside of the office. 901 Fort Worth Ave, Dallas, TX 75208, (214)393-2300
  • The Ginger Man – Happy hour everyday… a nice outdoor work space… a large upstairs lounge… what could be better? This is a great place to get some work in after work, although it is a popular place and you may find yourself easily distracted by the company. 2718 Boll St, Dallas, TX 75204  (214)754-8771
  • Dubliner  - The beer and social scene at Dubliner is excellent.  An Irish pub, run by a Dublin native – what could be better? Imported beers and whiskies, both of the Irish and Scottish variety, make for a great accompaniment to your work session. 2818 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206 (214)818-0911
