Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Feel like a total shmuck for waiting to buy a Mother’s Day present until now?  Good. You should.  That being said, we can’t leave you hanging without the perfect gift for the woman who raised you.

Let’s start off by saying you can never go wrong with flowers or candy. While it may lack a little originality, and can scream, “I forgot to get you a really meaningful present weeks ago,” chances are your mom will be quite pleased with a pretty bouquet or a sweet box of Godiva (like the $25 “Feed” tote – it’s the gift that keeps on giving by providing 10 school meals for children with each purchase).  If your mom has allergies to either flowers or chocolate, don’t throw in the towel just yet.

If Mom like to wear her fair share of jewelry, check out what Send the Trend and Charming Charlie have to offer. Hopefully you pay enough attention to your mom to know what kind of colors she likes to wear – pick something that matched her favorite color. Charming Charlie even makes it easy for you to shop by color. If you are totally stumped with this one, go with Charming Charlies snakeskin color-blocking clutch or the whistle-tiered aqua dangle earrings at Send the Trend. www.sendthetrend.com and www.charmingcharlie.com.

Mom more of a casual kind of lady? Try Havianas for Baby Buggy. You can find them at Nordstrom. www.us.havianas.com

Utterly fashioned challenged and completely intimated at the thought of buying accessories, handbags or shoes for Mom? Luxury Wines By the Glass has got your back. Small sample bottles of luxury wines can be tried for a steal – one bottle starts at $12 and a four pack starts at $45. www.tastingroom.com

Of course, if your Mom is the sentimental type who would prefer something with a bit more… thought/time/effort on your part here are some other suggestions:

  • Breakfast in bed
  • A photo album or digital frame full of family shots
  • A mix CD with songs from your childhood or her favorites (or this mix)
  • A nice dinner at home with the whole family

Of course, if you want to pull out the big guns you can always go the route of a full day (or two!) at the spa, followed by an amazing dinner and a heartfelt letter telling her just how much her guidance has meant to you.  The most important thing to remember on Mother’s Day is this: it is a time to make sure your mom knows just how much you love her.
